"Rockin' In The Free World," the prescient classic song by Neil Young originally released on Neil Young's "Freedom" album in 1989, is featured in Michael Moore's controversial new documentary film "Fahrenheit 9/11." A special edition single, with three different versions of the song, is released August 31st on Reprise Records.
The track, first heard on "Freedom" in both live acoustic and electric studio versions, articulates the passionate anti-war message of the hit film and was used by the director with special permission from the artist.
As a result, Michael Moore will now direct a video of "Rockin' In The Free World," using clips from "Fahrenheit 9/11" as well as live film footage of Neil Young performing the song.
Reprise Records releases "Rockin' In The Free World" in a special package featuring three different versions of the track: the original electric studio recording from "Freedom"; a live performance from the 1991 album "Weld," featuring Crazy Horse; and the new "Rockin' In The Free World / Fahrenheit 9/11 Mix," as heard in Michael Moore's film.
