
Saga Magazine has published an interview with Carly Simon in its last issue (October 2004) : Carly Simon - A Life On Tracks:
"Back in the mid-Seventies, when I first met Carly, she was one half of one of the the most famous couples in rock music. She and her husband James Taylor were on the cover of Rolling Stone and every other magazine that mattered in America. They had two beautiful young children and seemed to have the perfect marriage, living in the house that James Taylor had built himself on Martha's Vineyard.
She met him on April 6, 1971 when she opened a show for Cat Stevens at The Troubador in Los Angeles. The memory of the moment is still vivid. "He was already the huge new heart-throb in the world and yet this gorgeous, brilliant songwriting boy came backstage to say hello to me!" Carly Simon mimes herself as an awestruck fan: "My eyes and mouth were wide open. He was going out with Joni Mitchell at the time, so she came to the dressing room and collected him."
A few months later they moved in together. "The first time I walked into this living room there was a stack of fan mail like a pyramid, and he hadn't opened any of it. I spent the first two weeks opening mail and then making a bonfire on the lawn, because I couldn't possibly answer them all (...)"
