Fantasia "Free Yourself," Fantasia Barrino First Album (American Idol). Fantasia Barrino "Free Yourself" album which is Fantasia Barrino first album will be released on J-Records on November 23. Fantasia Barrino "Free Yourself" (Fantasia "Free Yourself") album features Miss Elliott, Dupri and Harold Lilly (who produced Alicia Keys).
J/19 recording artist Fantasia, the American Idol 3 champion who made Billboard History with her first record "I Believe" in June, is set to release her debut album "Free Yourself". The album, arriving in stores November 23rd, will feature guest appearances by Missy Elliott, who is producing three tracks, and a host of hitmakers that include Jermaine Dupri, Rodney Jerkins, Soulshock & Carlin, The Underdogs, Jazze Pha, and others.
Fantasia "Free Yourself" album producer Clive Davis, Chairman and CEO, BMG North America - who served as a judge in the final stages of "American Idol" and signed Fantasia to J Records in association with American Idol creator Simon Fuller's 19 Recordings Ltd. - has announced that the artist's first single is "Truth Is," produced by Soulshock & Karlin. "Truth Is" impacted Urban and Rhythm radio on November 15th, and Top 40 radio on November 29th.
"Fantasia is the real deal, an artist who is instantly identifiable and very much her own person," said Clive Davis. "She will have a long and illustrious career."
In addition to reprising "I Believe", "Free Yourself" will include Fantasia's show stopping version of the Gershwins' "Summertime", the song that took her to the final round on the American Idol competition. Fantasia made Billboard history by becoming the first artist in the history of Billboard's Hot 100 chart to debut at Number 1 with her first record, "I Believe". "I Believe" is currently the best selling single this year according to Neilsen Soundscan charts.
Fantasia "Free Yourself" album will also contain no less than three collaborations with Missy Elliott as producer and co-writer: "Selfish (I Want U 2 Myself)" (featuring Missy), the album title tune "Free Yourself" and "Good Lovin'".
Among the album's other highlights: The Underdogs produced "Ain't Gon' Beg You" and "You Were Always On My Mind" made famous by Willie Nelson, "Baby Mama" (co-written and produced by Harold Lilly), "Don't Act Right" (with Jazze Pha), "It's All Good" (with Rodney Jerkins), "This Is Me" (The Underdogs), and "Got Me Waiting" (produced by Jermaine Dupri).
"Working with Fantasia was fun because she's so into what she does and she understands that she's one hit record away from being not only the biggest American Idol, but one of the biggest stars in the world," said Jermaine Dupri.
Fantasia's upcoming appearances include Good Morning America, 20/20, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Ellen, Live with Regis & Kelly, and Early Show. Fantasia will perform on the American Idol Christmas special (with Kelly Clarkson and Ruben Studdard) airing on Fox on November 24th.
As the pre-release campaign heats up in support of "Free Yourself," the High Point, North Carolina native and single mother is proud of the work she has accomplished on her debut album. "I want the songs I record to show different aspects of what I can do musically," Fantasia Barrino says. "I feel like God has blessed me and now I just want to give something back..."

Fantasia is by far the Princess of Soul and the best thing that has happened to music since Aretha!
When it's all said and done, 'Tasia is awesome. Watch her fly because she has already taken off...I believe Fantasia can fly!

I've loved Fantasia since her first appearence on American Idol. She is a rare talent. Her voice is like no other and her performances are flawless and mesmerizing. If you don't buy her CD you are missing out. She is the real deal and a legend in the making. She is our "Princess of Soul." Ready or not Fantasia is coming. Climb on board and enjoy the ride.

This rare talent is a quench for the starving mediocre industry. Fantasia charms all the listening genre. Its not often the industry produces talent like this. She's Aretha-James Brown-Macy Gray-Nina Simone rolled into one amazing package. I have been following her since I saw her on AI3 semi's and this grrll will make it all the way...and beyond....

I am from the UK and have been following Fantasia since American Idol. What a breath of fresh air in an industry that is saturated with poorly manufactured, average sounding, personality devoid, pop/urban/soul/hip hop/rock etc etc acts. She has an infectious personality that appeals to so many. I just know she will reach her fullest potential. We hope to see you in the UK very soon Fantasia. well done!

While I think that fantasia's voice is awesome and she can really sing, I fear that all of her songs are going to sound alike. She doesn't have any versatility and everything she does will ultimately sound alike and blend together. I am pulling for her, by all means, and I will be buying the CD....

Fantasia is so gifted. At 19 she was able to do to Gershwin what no other could. She can sing any type music and make it her own. Not only does she sings great, she is a wonderful performer. I love her and her story. She will be around for many years doing many things.

Fantasia gives me chills when I listen to her sing. Everytime she starts I get chills running through my body, anybody else having that experience? Usually it's a rare moment in a rare song that can do that and she can make it happen each time when she cuts loose. From the first time I heard her sing I said, "who the heck is that?!!!", lets rewind and play that one again and again and again. She's got something great inside of her. Thank you Fantasia.

I stood in line for and Hour and a Half to get this CD and I just want to thank you Fantasia for making it worth every minute, every second of standing in that horrid line. Thank You

Fantasia, she is remarkable in this album. I knew I had to have it when I stood in line and there were five, cout that five, people ahead of me with only her CD. This album reminds me very much, artistically, of Shinia Twain's flexibility. She is a star and now the rest of the world is going to know. She can croon an old Willy Nelson song, blue it up with Missy and then touch the hearts of all single mothers struggling in the world. Sit back and watch it roll!

Fantastic Fantasia is what the industry needs REAL SINGERS. The album is phenominal girl you better sing. I am your biggest supporter Thank You for keeping real w/ Baby Mama, Summertime, Your always on my mind, and my favorite I Believe which is the song I listen to for inspiration. You are truly the "Princess of Soul"

I bought Fantasia CD. This is far the best CD that I have heard this year. Her alblum is better than Destiny Child. I am quite concern that het songs have not received the radio airplay it deserves. Radio often produces sales. Lack of airplay of this artist could ruin her career. Come radio, lets support Fantasia. Her best songs on the allbum: All
