Diary Of A Mad Black Woman Soundtrack feat. Cole, Angie Stone, Cheryl Pepsi Riley, Patti LaBelle and Tamia.
This spring, Rowdy Records, in association with Universal/Motown Records will release one of the year's most inspirational soundtracks, the accompanying disc to this year's breakthrough movie, the #1 Box Office film, "Diary Of A Mad Black Woman".
The uplifting compilation, co-produced by Rowdy Records founder and acclaimed producer Dallas Austin, is scheduled to hit stores in April. The low budget film's surprising rise to the top of the box office ranks this week was largely due to the efforts of it's innovative writer and producer, African American playwright Tyler Perry, who is also a key motivating/creative force behind the creation of the soundtrack.
The film, which opened at #1 this week, prominently showcases music from the soundtrack. The 12-song CD will feature a breathtaking array of female singers, including Motown's own India.Arie, who delivers the disc's first single, "Purify Me."
"Diary Of A Mad Black Woman," the soundtrack, also features new songs by Natalie Cole, Angie Stone, Cheryl Pepsi Riley, Patti LaBelle and Tamia, among others. The collection of songs is crucial to the film's religious infused plot, about an African American woman, Helen, (played by Kimberly Elise) tossed out of her mansion by her successful but philandering husband. The character soon finds herself on a journey of self exploration and rebirth that reunites her with her spiritual and family ties.
The film, Diary of a Mad Black Woman, which opened at #1 with estimated weekend ticket sales of 22 million, showcases some of the music contained in the soundtrack.

I have to say this is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. I understand what Helen was going through, not because I went through it myself but lets just say I know.By the way the songs were so fulfilling, I mean i literally got in the spirit listening to these Gospel songs. the one that toughed me the most wwas the last song-- man, Mr. perry you did good. The singers were very good, can I meet that Pastor, lol. Ok ok, I settle with the movie. Man he can sing, Oh, the little girl- Wow! I wish I can blow like her. i was touched by the movie, your ministry is going all the way Sir. You have blessed me and my family and i hope you will do it again. god Bless you. Love Shanalee gray, BKA Marsha 2005.

This movie is the best I have ever seen. What impact it has on my life. I too can relate to Helen's character. For I find myself in a half way relationship with someone who is like Helen's husband. I find myself searching to come into myself and not trusting men but still love the Lord Jesus with all my heart. Please release or direct me to this soundtrack. The songs has such healing words which will bring honor and glory out of such disarray in my present season of life.

Words can not describe how I felt about this movie. The faith and the belief in God is unbelievable. The storyline, the actors, and the soundtrack is worth seeing the movie over and over again. Enjoyed every minute and related to the movie so well. Thank you Tyler Perry for opening up my eyes to something I needed. :-)

All I can say is that Tyler Perry, you are one blessed individual. I pray that God continue to send his messages through the work he has designated to you. You picked a perfect play to make a movie of. Please continue on your journey for I feel your work has not been completed. I loved every minute of this movie, as well as the play. The vocalists were superb, all of them. Little Tiffany has a soulful voice as if she were here before; she can lead the best of them; Mrs. Mann, all I can say is God bless her and can I have a voice 'similar' to hers; the paster was good looking, as well as a wonderful singer. I have yet to obtain the soundtrack, but I am well on my way. While I have my own personal battles, my situation is none like this but I can say that the message hit home; I'm sure to a lot of individuals out there. Again, Mr. Perry, you are very blessed. I hope to get a chance to meet you in person one day and I can tell you this person to person. You are a wonderful soul and I hope you keep Madea alive and well with more plays and movies. She is truly a gem and so are you. Be blessed and take care. Ms. Starlett, New Orleans, LA.

Oh this movie moved me so much. I went to Atlanta this past week and it was just like the movie scenes..oh I loved the way it was put together..I got to watch a couple plays on dvd while I was there visiting my fiance. I am from Canada and I loved it. I was wondering however there is a song on the movie I can't find on the sound track..I don't know the name of it..but Helen is a resturant by herself and a couple is sitting at another table and the man is purposing the song they play in that selection I'd love to know the name of it...if anyone knows please email me.
Thank you Juanita in Nova Scotia Canada
