With «Unlocked», Almo wakes up the soul of rhythm and blues in France. A great Afro-American voice coming out from nowhere ? Almo (…) is French.
You need to see it to believe it, and to listen to it to like it. His voice refers to the best hours of the TAMLA MOTOWN team. Inspired by Marving Gaye or Stevie Wonder, ALMO is one of the French groove new stars. The success of this album appears not only in Almo’s Al Jarreau voice and qualified orchestra, but as well in the quality of the lyrics and composition.
Very far from the commercial R’n B that can be heard on every radio station, the romantic groove of Almo is an exception.
Almo was born in Paris and brought up in a musical background. He started playing the piano at 5 years old and soon realized that he wanted to be a musician. At home they listened to the Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Marvin Gaye or James Taylor. These were the artists that inspired him!!
As a youth, Almo would hang out at the studio Ferber where the doors were open to him and where he recorded his first demo and produced his first record. At 16 years old his first record came out on the label AZ which today is Universal Music. He recorded a single in English and signed immediately with Barclay for a second record.
He left for Boston as a youngster where he was offered a scholarship to Berklee College of music where he discovered jazz, the stage and where he met numerous musicians with whom he shared his passion for music.
Polyvalent and extremely talented, Almo continued his musical experience as composer of music for films, publicity, dubbing adaptations for films, musical director etc.. But above all, Almo is a songwriter.
In 2004, he produced his first album « Unlocked » and created his own record label, Unlocked music. His second album “Eleven Love inventions” (Unlocked music/O+/harmonia Mundi) was released in 2007.
The 2 albums, inspired by Soul and Pop are a pleasure to listen to even for the most demanding ears. After being invited to perform on numerous TV and radio shows, Almo has been a support act for artists such as : Raphaël Saadiq, Dwele et José Feliciano.
