Run C&W reissues by BGO Records

Run C&W is a novelty country project, but it has nothing to do with the rap group its name comes from; instead, group members Crashen Burns, Wash Burns, Side Burns and Rug Burns transform vintage soul classics into bluegrass-style twang.

The Burns Brothers are of course fictional creations; the group is actually composed of ex-Eagle Bernie Leadon on banjo, ex-Amazing Rhythm Ace Russell Smith on lead vocals, and Nashville songwriting pros Vince Melamed and Jim Photoglo on various instruments The group debuted for MCA in 1993 with ‘Into The Twangy-First Century’, concentrating mostly on humorous rearrangements but also offering the occasional parody, original song and jokey lyrical aside. ‘Row vs. Wade’ followed in 1995, after which the group went their separate ways.

Early August, Munich based label Yesterrock will release "Witness", a powerfull melodic hard rock album from start to end with brilliant and strong vocals from Debbie Davis originally recorded in the 90's. This album features guest such as Steve Smith & Neal Schon (Journey), Brad Gillis (Night Ranger), Danny Chauncey (38 Special) and super guitarist Tim Pierce.

YESTERROCK though stands for the present, for a newly founded Classic- and Hard Rock label based in Munich, Germany, which is specializing in re-issuing records that either haven’t been available for years or previously only released on vinyl but not on CD yet.

The label gains essential support in the search for these hidden treasures from both UNIVERSAL and SONY amongst others. Various independent label’s and artist’s contributions also help that CD’s now can be released which lately - in particular cases - only have been available in used and overpriced status on common internet platforms such as Amazon and Ebay.

Survivor Live Set restored at last!

 

The latest Survivor release on the market is a Japanese CD version of a laser disc Live in Japan 1985. The recording was never released on CD at the time, but more recently appeared as a budget release in the USA titled Extended Versions. However, this release was incomplete - it dropped 2 tracks. 

Now the set has been restored with fresh Sony 2009 mastering and is now available in Japan. There is no word yet on a USA release. Loverboy to release greatest hits album "the real thing" on april 7

 

Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc. is set to release Greatest Hits…The Real Thing, a new compilation of Loverboy's biggest hits, on April 7, 2009. As one of Canada's biggest rock exports that have influenced an entire generation of rock fans, the release features 16 tracks that include all of Loverboy's most memorable tunes, and looks at the band's exciting career.

Bobby Kimball sings TOTO Classics

Bobby Kimball is busy working on his brand new solo album and just finished vocals for the new Joseph Williams record called "This fall" to be released in November. Jim Messina Oasis and Watching The River Run Revisited reissues

Jim Messina has just re-released on CD 2 of his past albums newly available on CD Baby: "Oasis" (1979) and "Watching The River Run Revisited" (1996 and 2008) on Jasperilla Music Corporation/Jim Messina.

About the LP "Watching The River Run (Revisited)", Jim Messina says:

"Watching The River Run “Revisited” is a collection of my favorite songs that I still enjoy performing. Songs that I have either written, produced or engineered. Originally the reason for making this album was because inevitably, whenever a promoter and/or a radio station needed to create an ad for a Jim Messina Concert, they would choose the original recordings from The Buffalo Springfield, Poco and Kenny Loggins and Jim Messina. The problem with this for me was the original recordings of "Peace of Mind" "Watching the River Run" "Kind Woman" and "Child's Claim To Fame" all contain Kenny Loggins or Richie Furay as the featured vocalist. Whenever I herd the over the radio, I felt, they misrepresented what my audience would hear when they came to see me in concert.

But what I didn’t expect and much to my surprise was that my fans would respond with such appreciation and thereby making it much more special to me now than my original reason and purpose for creating it. That is why Watching The River Run is now being "Revisited.""

About the LP "Oasis", Jim Messina says:

""Oasis" was a wonderful part of my life’s musical journey. Touring and performing with the same musicians who helped to create the album, was especially pleasing. It is one of my favorite musical experiences thus far as a performing and recording artist. When the dust finally settled, the alum didn't sell millions but "Oasis" had done well and served a very important passage in my life. It was well received by critics, writers and the audiences I performed the album in front of, my fans. The very people the album was intended for in the first place."

The album "Oasis" dates from the period immediately after the end of the Kenny Loggins partnership in 1978.
