Phil Collins: Love Songs: A Compilation... Old & New

"Love Songs: A Compilation... Old & New" Phil Collins CD will be released on September 28 (Rhino Records) and an 8 hour DVD featuring his performance from Paris which formed part of this year's Final Farewell Tour. The DVD will not only include the live footage but, as special bonuses, the promotional videos from singles played as part of the concert will be available plus various other live performances of songs taken from other concerts. In addition, the DVD features the CBS Special, a documentary and a photo gallery.

"Love Songs: A Compilation... Old and New" Phil Collins double-CD, 25-song set features a handful of live recordings and previously unreleased cuts.
"This is a collection of love songs that I've either written or co-written and that I consider to be amongst my best work, in addition to songs that have been written and admired by me from a distance, whilst secretly wishing that I had written them," Phil Collins said. "There are also some songs here that I feel extremely close to, but were missed the first time around because of circumstances beyond their control."

Phil Collins' two US No. 1 hits are featured ("One More Night" and "Groovy Kind of Love"), along with such radio standards as "Against All Odds", "Do You Remember?" and "Two Hearts", plus his Oscar and Grammy-winning song "You'll Be in My Heart", from the Disney cartoon film "Tarzan".
Phil Collins also interprets standards like "Somewhere" from the musical "West Side Story" and covers Curtis Mayfield's "I've Been Trying". Live versions of the Temptations' "My Girl", the standard "The Way You Look Tonight" and Collins' own "True Colours" are also included.

From the vaults comes "Tearing and Breaking", co-written with singer-songwriter John Martyn during sessions for Collins' 2001 album "Testify". "Love Songs: A Compilation... Old and New" Phil Collins double-CD is a very nice compilation!
