John Hall (singer, songwriter, guitarist from Orleans) takes on Bush and wins about the song "Still The One". President Bush's campaign spokeswoman Nicolle Devenish has confirmed that a song used at campaign rallies has been withdrawn.
The song "Still the One" John Hall and Johanna Hall) was part of a package of songs used for events by the Bush campaign office the songwriters had not agreed to the use.

On the their official website the band Orleans have initially posted this message for their fans:
"We want the public - especially our fans and longtime friends - to know that we were not asked about and did not approve the use of - 'Still The One' as a campaign theme song for President George W. Bush.
We, the writers and performers of the song all plan to vote For John Kerry."

Part of the lyrics from "Still The One":
"You're still the one -- who can scratch my itch
Still the one -- and I wouldn't switch
We're still having fun, and you're still the one
You are still the one -- that makes me shout
Still the one -- that I dream about
We're still having fun, and you're still the one
You're still the one, yeah still the one
We're still having fun, and you're still the one"

The following sentence has been published at the top frontpage of the band Orleans website:
"The "Still The One" controversy has been resolved. The George W. Bush campaign agreed to stop using the song and we consider the matter closed. Please vote for the candidate of your choice, and after tuesday, unite behind the winner."

Well gee, I was thinking about getting some of your music but I DIDN'T know it was a political tug of war. I voted for Bush and you can keep your music. It might be a surprise to find out that quite a few of us who listen to your music do vote republican.
I have no clue who Fleetwood Mac voted for when Clinton used their song for his campaign. Too bad you lost the opportunity to re-invent your career by your choice.
I admire your stand for your guy but you are entertainment, I really don't care about your politics but since you are so vocal about being so proud to vote for an untruthful, flip-flopper I want to thank you for keeping me from throwing my money away on you. I can make a stand too. I'm sure this will not land on your comment page.........
