Josh Groban musical director: solo-artist Zachary Provost, Josh Groban "Live At The Greek" DVD+CD

Josh Groban musical director: solo-artist Zachary Provost, Josh Groban "Live At The Greek" DVD+CD. With recent performances on Conan O'Brien and the American Music Awards, Zachary Provost is warming up for a month long tour as pianist and musical director for Josh Groban, the tour begins late this month in South Africa and then heads to Europe for a string of sold-out shows in Holland, Germany, Sweden, Norway, France and the UK.

Zachary Provost was introduced to Josh Groban by legendary producer David Foster. David Foster, a 14-time Grammy Award winner has produced hits for such artists as Josh Groban, Celine Dion, Chicago, Whitney Houston, Barbara Streisand, Toni Braxton, Diana Krall and many more. David Foster and Zachary Provost's friendship dates back six years during which Zachary Provost was asked by David Foster to arrange the National Anthem for Cher at the 1999 Superbowl. Most recently, David Foster approached Zachary Provost in need of a pianist and musical director for Josh Groban. Zachary Provost happily agreed three years ago and has in this time developed a strong and mutually respectful relationship with Josh Groban.

Aside from his position as musical director, Zachary Provost is himself a renowned solo-artist. In high school he received the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award for musicianship and then received the Barry Manilow Endowed Scholarship for songwriting skills while studying at USC.

Zachary Provost recently released his debut album "Alive," which received a great deal of critical acclaim. Keyboard magazine praises, "Zachary Provost has created a stellar collection of solid songs that showcase his deft arrangement and production skills."

Crowds this summer at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles were in for a rare treat when Zachary Provost was asked by Josh Groban to perform two original songs at his sold out concert. Zachary Provost helped to fill in the gaps while technical adjustments were made during the shooting of Josh Groban's upcoming DVD "Josh Groban Live at the Greek Theater."
Zachary Provost sang and Josh Groban's band performed the song "Fire" from Zachary Provost's album "Alive," as well as "The Heart of the Moment," a track from his upcoming CD to be released late next summer. The music was well received by Josh Groban's fans and Zachary Provost made quite of a few of his own fans that night.

Zachary Provost's quickly growing fan base and respect within the industry is a strong endorsement for his talent as a singer-songwriter. Producer David Foster says, "Over the years I've met a lot of very talented people. Zachary Provost is at the top of that list. The depth of his musicianship is endless, and his great songwriting, arranging and production skills make him a triple threat. He has written and produced an album that belongs right alongside the biggest names in our industry. Congratulations Zachary. Let this be the first of many great contributions to the artistic community."

Zachary Provost will be performing in Los Angeles at Molly Malone's on Thursday December 30th at 8:30pm. Zachary Provost will be joined by fellow Josh Groban band members: Craig Macintyre (drums), Tim Curle (percussion), and Tariqh Akoni (guitar). Special guests include Liz Phair's musical director, Dino Meneghin on guitar and Sean Hurley on bass. Hurley plays with Vertical Horizon, Richard Marx and Glen Ballard.

Styx covers "I Am The Walrus" (originally from The Beatles)

Styx covers "I Am The Walrus" (originally from The Beatles). Styx's version of the classic Beatles song "I Am The Walrus" has hit the Top Ten on the Mediabase Classic Rock chart within two weeks of the song's (date) release. The single will debut to consumers worldwide exclusively through Apple's iTunes Music Store beginning December 7.

When Styx was invited to participate in Eric Clapton's "Crossroads" benefit earlier this year, they changed up their set to include blues songs, such as their newly recorded version of their hit "Blue Collar Man," as well as "I Am The Walrus." The audience response to the Styx-styled version was overwhelming, leading to the group's decision to include the single as a staple to their set lists at future shows.

"After attending our Chicago homecoming performance at Vic Theater back in August, WLUP Program Director Greg Solk requested a live recording of Walrus to play on the air," said James "JY" Young.
"There was definitely a groundswell happening with the song. We love playing it on stage, and the audience loves it."

Tommy Shaw added, "Just as we thought our year was winding down, we find ourselves in full response mode as this rocking track keeps climbing up the charts. Jim Ladd told JY and me, 'You guys captured lightning in a bottle...' Frankly we're pleasantly stunned by how little we've had to do with its success at radio."

Styx recorded the song on September 11th in Lincoln City, Oregon and it aired on WLUP on October 8th, followed by a West Coast debut broadcast by radio host Jim Ladd on KLOS. In just three weeks, the song is being played on more than 120 stations.

The song debuted at No 24 on the Mediabase Classic Rock chart and jumped to No 10 a week later.
The band is putting finishing touches on a video for the song that includes a cameo by Billy Bob Thornton.

Phil Vassar (Country Music Star) to Serve as Grand Marshal of the 52nd Annual Nashville Gas Christmas Parade. Country music star Phil Vassar will lead marching bands, parade floats and giant helium balloons down Broadway as the Grand Marshal of the 52nd Annual Nashville Gas Christmas Parade, to be held on Friday, December 3rd at 7:30 p.m. This year's parade is presented by Southeast Financial Credit Union.

One of entertainment's most energetic performers, Phil Vassar has been enjoying the success of his third Arista Nashville album, "Shaken Not Stirred," (on Arista) with the number one single, "In A Real Love." In a three out of four star album review, People Magazine says of Phil's talent, "[he] decorates his vocals with his keyboard work in a way that evokes the best singer-pianists, from Nat 'King' Cole and Hoagy Carmichael to Ronnie Milsap and Diana Krall."

Phil Vassar began his career performing his growing repertoire of original songs on the weekends at his Nashville club-restaurant. Before embarking on his solo career, which has produced more than half a dozen Top 10 hits (including the #1 "Just Another Day In Paradise"), the accomplished pianist penned hits for a number of top artists including Tim McGraw ("For a Little While," "My Next Thirty Years"), Alan Jackson ("Right on the Money"), Jo Dee Messina ("Bye Bye," "I'm Alright") and Collin Raye ("Little Red Rodeo"). He has earned numerous songwriting awards as well as new artist distinctions from ACM, CMA, R&R and Gavin.

"We are very excited to have a star of Phil's caliber leading our parade," said John Clark, Vice President of Tennessee Operations, Nashville Gas. "He is such an amazing artist and it is heartening to see how much he cares about the Nashville Community."

"I am honored to serve as the Grand Marshal for the Nashville Gas Christmas Parade," said Phil Vassar. "To be a part of something that has kicked off the holiday season in Nashville for 52 years is truly inspirational."

Christopher Dykes: Cross Reference

Christopher Dykes "Cross Reference" new album. Atlanta based singer/songwriter, Christopher Dykes has released his first Contemporary Christian CD, "Cross Reference".

After almost two decades of playing the Atlanta music scene, the tides have turned for veteran (ex) rocker, Christopher Dykes. His debut release, "Cross Reference", is a tell-tale compilation of well written and produced songs which chronicle the transformation from the secular to the spiritual. Unlike the majority of Contemporary Christian music geared for a younger crowd, Christopher's "Cross Reference" CD is well suited for a wide ranged audience with something for just about everyone, but is perfectly aimed for those who have struggled through their youth and are seeking word, or have found, that the grass is actually "greener on the other side". "Cross Reference" has it all; from slow ballads to high-tempo rockers to jazzy instrumentals, this is one CCM release you will not want to miss.

Noa and Gil Dor to Perform in Thousand Oaks, California November 28. International singing star Noa will appear in concert at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, 2004, at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza in Thousand Oaks. This one and only Southern California appearance on her North American tour is sponsored by Temple Beth Haverim of Agoura Hills. "We've been trying to get Noa to come here for years," says Cantor Kenny Ellis, of Temple Beth Haverim, who first heard Noa sing in Israel in 1990, and was instrumental in bringing her to Thousand Oaks.
Noa has performed at the Vatican before the Pope, and has toured and sung with rock superstar Sting, who names her one of the world's top musicians in the current issue of Vanity Fair magazine. She sang for Bill Clinton at the White House and was onstage performing at the Tel Aviv peace rally just minutes before Rabin was assassinated in 1995.

Noa has appeared onstage with such artists as Stevie Wonder, Carlos Santana, Sheryl Crow and Quincy Jones, has toured Europe, the United States, Canada, Brazil and Japan, and performed in many renowned concert venues including Carnegie Hall. This international singing star sang the theme song in the Oscar-winning film "Life is Beautiful," has performed with the Israel Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra and has earned many awards for her work.
Noa has performed with other artists and participated in many panels addressing the role of art and artists in helping to bring about peace in the Middle East. She has been named a Goodwill Ambassador by the United Nations.
A multitalented artist, Noa plays percussion, piano and guitar. Noa says her strongest musical influences have been singer/songwriters such as Joni Mitchell, James Taylor and Paul Simon. Ellis describes her music as synthesized folk with a mystical, spiritual quality. "She is the Sarah McLaughlin of Israel," says Ellis, "she has her own unique style. She touches you in a way you've never been touched before."

Noa and her longtime collaborator Gil Dor, have released four highly successful Israeli albums and four international albums, including "Noa" and "Calling" for Geffen Records, "Blue Touches Blue" for Mercury Records, and "Now" for Universal Music.

Born in Tel Aviv in 1969, Noa moved to New York City at the age of 2 and returned to Israel 15 years later. After serving the mandatory two years in the Israeli Army in a military entertainment unit, Noa studied music at the Rimon School where she met Gil Dor. The two have collaborated ever since, combining their individual influences, which includes Noa's Yemenite background.

"Noa and Gil are an incredible team with a natural ability to write music," says Ellis; "we are thrilled that they are coming to perform here."
