Crosby, Stills & Nash American tour, Crosby, Stills & Nash American tour

Crosby, Stills & Nash American tour, Crosby, Stills & Nash American tour.

Crosby, Stills & Nash (CSN) launch the North American leg of their World Tour 2005 on July 23 with a show in Florence, MA. Their two-month-plus Stateside sweep follows a nearly two-dozen date swing through eleven countries on the European continent that marked their first tour "over there" in over a decade.

The band hit the road this year in support of their most recent album projects, including "Man Alive," Stephen Stills' new solo studio CD, released in Europe in June with a U.S. debut slated for August, and the Crosby/Nash 2-CD studio set Crosby-Nash. Also released earlier this year was the new single- disc Crosby, Stills & Nash retrospective "Greatest Hits" compilation.

Crosby, Stills & Nash's coast-to-coast North American tour, comprised of almost three dozen dates, includes shows at Boston, MA's Bank of America Pavillion (7/30), an exclusive 2-night engagement at New York City's historic Beacon Theater (8/1-2), Wolf Trap/The Filene Center in Vienna, VA (8/13), Missoula, MT's Big Sky Brewing Amphitheater, and Vancouver, BC's Orpheum Theater (9/3). California gigs include shows at the Luther Burbank Center in Santa Rosa (9/7) and Los Angeles' Greek Theater on September 10. Currently, the itinerary concludes in Las Vegas on September 17.

When Crosby, Stills & Nash formed in Los Angeles, they were an instant supergroup, each member emerging from one of the biggest acts of the era -- David Crosby from The Byrds, Stephen Stills from Buffalo Springfield, and Graham Nash from The Hollies. Since then, as a trio and with Neil Young in CSNY, they've proved to be one of the most popular and influential acts in rock history, with peerless harmonies and classic anthems including "Carry On," "Marrakesh Express," "Long Time Gone," "Southern Cross," "Teach Your Children," "Wooden Ships," "Our House" and "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes."

The Crosby, Stills & Nash World Tour 2005 is their first large-scale international road journey since 1992. On the road as three together, their North American dates will find them primed for a stellar homecoming that's not to be missed.

Rickie Lee Jones "Duchess of Coolsville: An Anthology", Rickie Lee Jones Best Of Anthology

Rickie Lee Jones "Duchess of Coolsville: An Anthology", Rickie Lee Jones Best Of Anthology out June 28, 2005 (on Rhino Records).

Rickie Lee Jones' career ascent began after famed rock front man Lowell George recored her composition "Easy Money" for a Little Feat album. As an inimitable song stylist, she first made her indelible mark with the scat-flavored hist "Chuck E's In Love" from her acclaimed 1979 self-titled debut LP. Ever since, Jones has blazed an artististically idiosyncratic path on a long string of beautiful, adventurous, and personal albums. Her more-than-distinctive vocals encompass rock, jazz, blues, classic pop, folk, and R&B inflections...Textured with fluent wordplay and delivered with true heart, Rickie Lee's sound is one of the most authentic and original in contemporary music.

Career overviews programmed by the artists themselves are generally inconsistent affairs, usually due to the musicians' own eccentricities. "For Duchess of Coolsville," this long-overdue Rickie Lee Jones compilation covering the years 1979-2003, she decided to sequence most of the songs in alphabetical order. It's a unique, yet rather bizarre, concept that dispenses with all sense of continuity, either chronological or musical. While this randomness behooves an artist as willfully eclectic as Jones, it also makes for a rollercoaster listening experience. Selecting tracks from 10 albums that alternately focused on folk, jazz, pop standards, and even electronica makes putting together any compilation of Jones's work a tough assignment, especially since each of her records has a distinctive flow. The 34 selections on the first two discs hit most, but not all, of the highlights from her often patchy releases. Disc 3 unearths seven demos, some live tracks, and several collaborations, few of which are revelatory.

Long in need of a sonic shining, these songs sparkle with fresh remastering, revealing production details most listeners will hear for the first time. While not the best or most coherent collection of Rickie Lee Jones's work that could have been assembled, this anthology provides a reasonably good overview of the "Duchess of Coolsville"'s diverse, distinctive, and often dynamic career.

Rita Coolidge "And So Is Love", new Rita Coolidge album out on June 28, 2005

Rita Coolidge "And So Is Love", new Rita Coolidge album out on June 28, 2005 (Concord Records).

Most music fans have a favorite song recorded by two-time Grammy award-winner Rita Coolidge "Fever," "We're All Alone," "One Fine Day," "(Your Love Has Lifted Me) Higher & Higher," "The Way You Do The Things You Do," "All Time High," "Superstar," and so many other memorable tracks that topped the charts from the 1970's onward.

It is perhaps due to Rita Coolidge's Pop and Rock pedigree that many of her fans are unaware of her longstanding affection for Jazz, however. Her debut release for Concord Records, "And So Is Love," a collection of well-loved Jazz standards, is sure to change all that. It will also undoubtedly add a few Jazz chestnuts to that lengthy list of songs Rita Coolidge has already made her own.

Rita Coolidge "And So Is Love" new album tracklisting:
Come Rain Or Come Shine
Save Your Love For Me
Cry Me A River
I Thought About You
We're All Alone
Estaté (featuring Herb Alpert)
More Than You Know

I Don’t Know Enough About You

Patty Loveless "Dreamin' My Dreams", new Patty Loveless album

Patty Loveless "Dreamin' My Dreams", new Patty Loveless album released September 13, 2005 (on Epic Nashville).

Grammy award-winner and multi-platinum recording artist, Patty Loveless will release her new CD, "Dreamin' My Dreams" (Epic Nashville) on September 13, 2005. Since Patty Loveless's first disc, Patty Loveless in 1986, she has earned dozens of awards, sold millions of records and amassed one of the most respected and revered careers in music. "Dreamin' My Dreams" is one more testament to the discriminating musical taste that has elevated Patty Loveless from the pack and forged her name into the annals of country music history.

2005 marks the 20-year anniversary of Patty Loveless's partnership with longtime producer turned husband, Emory Gordy, Jr. The two first met in 1985 when Emory (with Tony Brown) produced Patty Loveless's first recordings. They fell in love, later wed in 1989 and have been partners in life and music ever since.

Naturally, Gordy returned to the sound board for producer duties on "Dreamin' My Dreams". The rich production created with co-producer Justin Niebank, guest vocals from consummate vocalists Emmylou Harris and Dwight Yoakam and musicianship by such greats as Stuart Duncan, Lee Roy Parnell, Albert Lee, Bryan Sutton and Rob Ickes take the listener on a Sunday drive through the best of contemporary country to the roots of Appalachian mountain music, blues and bluegrass that has become her signature.

"I feel much more confident these days in the way I approach a song," says Patty Loveless. "On my last few records, I've just let myself feel a sense of freedom and trust. I've made a lot of records and I feel fortunate to be able to continue making them. So now I think, 'I just want to flow with it - enjoy it.'"

"Dreamin' My Dreams" also showcases Patty Loveless's exquisite vocal style with her delicate gift for discovering the heart of a song. The CD features tracks by Richard Thompson, Jim Lauderdale, Julie and Buddy Miller, Leslie Satcher, Delbert McClinton, Steve Earle, Delaney Bramlett, Thom Schuyler, Gary Nicholson, Tony Arata, Pete Wasner, Lee Roy Parnell and Allen Reynolds. Also included are three tracks co-written by Patty Loveless and Emory Gordy, Jr.

Always, Patty Loveless connects. Going heart to heart with every one of her listeners, she sings their joys and sorrows. She connects to the ache or tenderness of each song's lyrics. And she takes the connection back – all the way to the soul of country music. Born and bred country, Patty lives that soul, and with "Dreamin' My Dreams" she again makes it real. "That title reminds me of how I first felt when I came to Nashville," Patty Loveless says, "I felt I was living my dreams." With this remarkable album, the dream continues. "Dreamin' My Dreams" hits stores September 13.

Lee Ann Womack Throws Down On Toby Keith's Tour, Lee Ann Womack on Tour

Lee Ann Womack Throws Down On Toby Keith's Tour, Lee Ann Womack on Tour.

Lee Ann Womack is the only girl on Toby Keith's Big Throwdown II Tour, but she's having a good time being just one of the guys. True to her word, she's proving on-stage and off that There's More Where That Came From. has been full of road reports - hangovers and all - of the great time she's having out there. She's found a partner-in-crime in kick-ass country rocker Shooter Jennings, whose band is along for this summer's wild ride. The two crews - Team Law & Team Outlaw - have been getting together each night around the "campfire" to jam.

Taking the "Throwdown" challenge literally, Lee Ann Womack's bus has become the unofficial watering hole, so much so that she's given up trying to keep it stocked. (Here's hoping that Miller Lite and Jaggermeister are looking for new acts to sponsor).

Now the only other thing is to get the ultimate party man involved...Maybe Lee Ann will issue an invitation to Toby and crew to a party-off? Just don't let the lady fool you, she's no lightweight.
