Live at duo Music Exchange: A great series of concerts for wealthy fans!

Duo

Duo Music Exchange, the live house in Tokyo released a series of live DVDs and live CDs filmed & recorded live at the live house as "World Premium Artist Series 100's". The first artist of this series was Robbie Dupree. Recorded on Saturday March 13, 2004. Other live performances were released in 2005 and features artists such as Shakatak, Stephen Bishop, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Douberry Jam, Rockapella, Suzanne Vega and Caron Weeler.

You can purchase those products on the web for a very expensive price. Too bad for fans, for the sales... and for the artists!! In France, you'll have to pay 70 euros for a dvd and 30 euros for a cd (with a simple cd jacket without any informations about songwriters, musicians playing on it). Who can buy a dvd at that price? Where goes the money?? Hope the big part goes to the artists whom make us spend good time with their creations...

Shooting Star in studio working on a new record!

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the signing of SHOOTING STAR to the label for the release of their brand new – yet untitled – studio album.

SHOOTING STAR was formed in Kansas City with vocalist/guitarist Van McLain, guitarist Gary West, violin player Charles Waltz, bassist Ron Verlin and drummer Steve Thomas. The group signed to Virgin and delivered their self-titled debut album in 1979. After the release of their fifth studio album “Silent Scream”, the group disbanded.

The band rejoined in 1991 with a brand new album, “It's Not Over” with a new line-up. Gary West left the group and was replaced by Keith Mitchell. Dennis Laffon also joined the group on keyboards as did drummer Rod Lincoln and a live album followed in 1992.

Their latest studio effort entitled “Leap of Faith” was released in 2002. In august 2005 singer Keith Mitchell left the band replaced by none other than the legendary Kevin Chalfant (TWO FIRES, THE STORM).

According to guitarist Van McLain: "Kevin sounds amazing! He sounds like a cross between Gary West and Keith Mitchell but with his own great style. I think you all will be very pleased! I am in the studio working with Kevin Elson (JOURNEY, EUROPE) today. We mixed a song Gary and I wrote called Without Love yesterday. It sounds sooooooo good!"

The album is currently in the final recording and mixing stages and Frontiers Records looks forward to releasing in the summer 06.

I Remember When I Was Young - Songs From The Great Australian Songbook by John Farnham

Farnam

The one and only John Farnham (LRB) is back with 'I Remember When I Was Young, Songs From The Great Australian Songbook'. The album is a collection of Australian classics that John has recorded to form an 'Australian songbook' - interpretations of songs that were written and performed by Australian artists over the last 40 years.

Produced by John and his long-time producer, Ross Fraser, 'I Remember When I Was Young: Songs From The Great Australian Songbook' features 13 timeless Australian titles including 'Come Back Again' (Ross Wilson), 'I Remember When I was Young' (Matt Taylor), 'Reckless' (James Reyne), 'Even When I'm Sleeping' (Leonardo's Bride), 'Girls On the Avenue' (Richard Clapton) and 'No Aphrodisiac' (The Whitlams).

"There was only one rule when choosing songs for this project...they had to be written and performed by Australian artists," says John. "I know there are many songs people are going to ask about and why they were not included on this album, I guess that rule answers the question to a certain extent."

John listened to over 150 Australian songs so choosing just 13 tracks for the album was not an easy task! Some of the songs he knew well and loved and some he discovered properly for the first time.

John adds, "All I can say is that the choice of material here was hard to settle on and I would have loved to have recorded 40 or 50 songs, which wouldn?t even make a real dent in the available material. So, one day I'll get to a few more Australian classics."

John has created a truly unforgettable album, so we can only hope that this if the first of many more Great Australian Songbooks to come!
