Heart "Red Velvet Car"

Heart
Ann Wilson and her sister Nancy first showed the world that women can rock when their band Heart stormed the charts in the 70s with songs like Crazy On You, Magic Man, and Barracuda, and many more. They continued topping the charts through the 80s and into the 90s with huge hits like These Dreams, Alone, What About Love, If Looks Could Kill, Never, and a string of other hits that showcased the sisters enormous talents. Along the way, Heart sold more than 30 million records, had 21 Top 40 hits, sold out arenas worldwide, and had a profound influence on rock music.

"Red Velvet Car" the most personal and powerful work yet from Ann and Nancy Wilson, and their first album in 6 years, takes generations of Heart fans on what truly feels like the musical ride of a lifetime. Powerfully produced by Ben Mink, "Red Velvet Car" is a thoroughly electrifying song cycle of largely acoustic-based sound and a stunning album with a true and renewed sense of purpose. Ann and Nancy committed themselves to writing and recording an album that was as authentic as possible, culling from their own personal experiences and some universal themes. The result on "Red Velvet Car" is an album of breathtaking intimacy and honesty.

Ry Cuming, a new artist to discover...

Ry
Born on Woodford Island in the Far-North Coast of Australia and growing up in the coastal town of Angourie, Ry Cuming was a bleached blonde kid who spent his days on the beach and in the water. From the first time he stood on a surfboard at age 3 and held his first guitar at 5, it was easy to see the natural path ahead of him.

One day after surfing in the World Longboard Championships, Ry was playing in the hallway of a hotel when one of the surfers watching called her boyfriend, an L.A. film producer, to come check him out. The next day he came up to me at the beach and said, What are you doing with your music? I just said, Playing it. Shortly after that honest and simple exchange, the film producer flew to LA and his immersion into the SOCAL music scene began.

His undeniable talent, good looks, and infectious, laid-back demeanor immediately ingratiated him with the best LA had to offer. He recorded demos and started working with then-fledgling L.A. bands Phantom Planet, Rooney, and Maroon 5 (Cuming's Australia tour mates in 2009).

Before a trip back to Australia, Ry took what he thought would be a casual meeting with Jive Records/Bellasonic. He quickly found himself signed to the powerhouse label. He has since hooked up with mega-successful producer John Alagia (John Mayer, Jason Mraz) to produce his debut album, the eponymously titled Cuming. The 11 songs move from gorgeous and hushed (Home) to grimy and rocking (Chemistry), featuring shout-it-from-the-rooftops choruses (Meaning of It All), vulnerable breakdowns (Heartbreak), and angelic, tumbling falsetto melodies (Is This Love).

Each hook-filled song burrows its way into your consciousness. Always Remember Me featuring Sara Bareilles was plucked off his debut EP by several radio stations (Austin, Portland, Charlottseville, to name a few) ahead of the official first single, Some Kind of Love , to be serviced prior to album release. Ry will be on the road in support of his debut album, and that is where Cuming really shines...doing what he loves best.

Grammy-Winners Huey Lewis & The News pay Tribute to Memphis Soul on First Album in Nine Years!

Soulsville
17 August 2010: Grammy-winners Huey Lewis and The News have confirmed the November 2 release of 'Soulsville,' their first album in nine years, to be released on W.O.W. Records

Recorded at historic Ardent Studios in Memphis, the album features 14 classic songs from the vault of Stax Records, including “Respect Yourself” and “Got To Get You Off My Mind”. Considered to be the preeminent soul music label in America, Stax was home to artists like Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Booker T & The MG’s, and Isaac Hayes, and produced an astounding number of hit records throughout the 1960’s & 70’s.

Ably paying tribute to the rich Stax legacy, Huey Lewis and The News, joined by their long time horn section, capture the energy and excitement of this important era. 'Soulsville' re-unites Huey Lewis and the News with co-producer Jim Gaines ('Sports,' 'Fore!') who worked at the Stax studios as a young man and was involved in many of the label's original recordings.

“We’re especially proud of the collection.” says Lewis, who has been previewing material from the album while on a critically acclaimed summer tour. “There should be a number of surprises for everyone.”

Formed from two rival Bay Area bands in 1979, Huey Lewis and The News play a brand of straight-ahead rock and roll that has outlasted countless trends, selling over 20 million albums and earning Grammy Awards along the way. The group still performs around 100 shows a year. Lewis has enjoyed recent success on screen and stage as well, acting on the hit television show “Hot in Cleveland”, and performing in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical “Chicago”.
