YES "Keys To Ascension"

Yeskeys
Proper Records is pleased to announce the releade of YES "Key To Ascension" 4 Cds & Dvd set.

Archetypal prog-rockers Yes formed in London in the late 60s. They gained vast popularity in the 1970s and have managed to keep a faithful following long after the prog movement lost its force. Credit for their long-standing relevance lies with the distinctive vocals and lyrics of frontman Jon Anderson and the musicianship of the band’s many members who have come and gone over the life of the group. Yes wore their prog credentials on their flared sleeves, with long track-times and multiple changes in chord and tempo. Their songs embraced futurism and utopia, and their live appearances involved complex light shows for the total prog experience, while their recorded works featured the intricate artwork of fantasy art favourite Roger Dean.

The band originally performed prog cover versions, with their self-titled debut album in 1969 featuring versions of tracks by The Byrds and The Beatles. They began to write their own material, taking on influences from classical to jazz. The results were a stream of gold and platinum-selling albums throughout the 70s, with Fragile and Close to the Edge considered fan favourites.

Personality clashes are a feature among groups of people in prolonged close contact, and Yes were no different. After a brief spilt in 1980, during which Rick Wakeman and Jon Anderson left the band, a new line-up released Drama. The album made the Top 5 in the UK, despite the absence of Anderson’s lead vocals. Another split followed the album, this time for longer.

The new band emerged two years later, with a new sound. Producer Trevor Horn brought a synth-rock sound to 1983’s 90125. The album gave the band their biggest chart success with “Owner of a Lonely Heart”, which topped the Rock and the Hot 100 charts in the US. The band broke up again after 90125, and the 80s were marked by disputes between former member about rights to the name Yes, and the bands back catalogue. By the late 80s there was Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman and Howe in one corner and Yes, with Squire, White and Kaye in the other. The boys made up and the resulting love-child, Union, though not as commercially successful as previous efforts, did provide the single “Lift Me Up”, which spent over a month at the top of the Album Rock Tracks chart. Since then members have still come and gone, though the albums have not sold as well as their commercial peak.

In 2004 the group were officially resting, though as 2008 marked their 40th anniversary, a world tour was planned... unfortunately illness forced a cancellation of the much anticipated concerts and fans will have to wait to see what they do next. Soundunwound.com

The Steve Miller Band in Concert in Paris!

Smb
Recorded at film producer George Lucas' infamous studios at Skywalker Ranch, 'BINGO!' is The Steve Miller Band's first studio album in 17 years. 'BINGO!' is the album Steve Miller has waited his entire life to make. Reaching back to his apprenticeship as a young man on the Chicago blues scene, Miller and co-producer Andy Johns brought classic rhythm and blues numbers that have been at the foundation of his music throughout his career into the 21st century.

A true return to Miller's roots, 'BINGO!' echoes his early years in the Chicago music scene and features carefully chosen and crafted blues tracks performed in distinctive Steve Miller Band fashion. 'BINGO!' was co-produced by Andy Johns (Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Van Halen), with artwork designed by the legendary Storm Thorgerson. These recordings feature longtime Steve Miller Band member Norton Buffalo, who sadly passed away in 2009.

THE STEVE MILLER BAND WILL BE IN CONCERT ON OCTOBER 14TH AT ZENITH DE PARIS!

Black Country Communion... New Super Band!

Blackcount

Black Country Communion is a devastating head-on collision between American and British rock influences—a true supergroup that delivers a titanic rock experience greater than the sum of its supremely talented parts. The seed for Black Country Communion was planted when legendary frontman and bass guitarist Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Trapeze) and master blues-rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa combined forces on stage in Los Angeles in November 2009 for an explosive performance at Guitar Center’s King of the Blues event.

The brainchild of producer Kevin Shirley (Black Crowes, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin), the band added to its rock lineage with powerhouse drummer Jason Bonham (Led Zeppelin, Foreigner) and keyboardist Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, Billy Idol, Alice Cooper). Named after the industrial area in Britain where both Hughes and Bonham were born and raised, Black Country Communion began rehearsing and recording tracks written by both Bonamassa and Hughes at Shangri-La Studios in early 2010.

Their debut Self Titled Album, was released on September 21, 2010 in the States on the J&R Adventures Label and September 20, 2010 in Europe on Mascot Records. The band is planning a tour of select venues in 2011.

Veryshowwinw
VERYSHOW is pleased to announce an exceptionnal concert of the great Steve Winwood on october 7th at Bobino (Paris). Don't miss that event! Purchase your tickets at Fnac, Ticketnet, Bobino, Veryshow.

Steve Winwood is actually touring to promote Island Records's release of his definitive career retrospective “Revolutions – The Very Best Of Steve Winwood”, a portrait of one of the most influential British musicians in rock history; a singer-songwriter, peerless vocalist, guitarist and keyboard player.  With tracklistings selected from Steve's five decade career.

Revolution

A child prodigy, Winwood first performed live on stage at the tender age of 8 in his father’s trad jazz band, and joined the Spencer Davis Group at 14.  His stunning vocal style was compared to Ray Charles.  He left Spencer Davis to form Traffic then later teamed up with Eric Clapton in Blind Faith at the tail-end of the Sixties.  Arguably his biggest successes came with his solo work from the Seventies on.

In a career lasting nearly 50 years he has sold over 50 million albums and several of his songs have become standards, notably ‘Gimme Some Lovin’ (memorably covered in The Blues Brothers film), ‘Keep On Running’,  ‘Valerie’, ‘The Low Spark Of The High Heeled Boys’ and ‘Higher Love’.

He has been awarded multiple Grammy awards – for ‘Gimme Some Lovin’ and ‘Higher Love’ (a US no 1 in ’86) In 2008 Rolling Stone ranked him no 33 in the 100 Best Singers Of All Time.

Codie Prevost "GET LOUD"

Cp_getloud
Building on the momentum from his first two albums “The Road Ahead” (2005) and “Spin 6-PAK Vol. I” (2008), both which have been honored with accolades, Codie Prevost has just launched his highly-anticipated third album, “Get Loud”.

An exciting change for Prevost this time around was having the opportunity to work with one of Canada’s top producers, Tom McKillip in Vancouver, who captured his unique style and sound. From the lead off single/video “Rolling Back To You” to the potential new wedding song “From Where I Stand”, this album is sure to have something for everyone. The hidden gem on “Get Loud” is “I’m Okay”, written for a friend who was having a hard time dealing with the loss of her brother.

With Main stage performances in 2009 at Dauphin Countryfest and Extreme Country Fever where he received a standing ovation, it is no surprise that he was hand picked by T.J. Greaney, publisher of Country Line Magazine, to perform at the highly acclaimed SxSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas. He has also showcased his talents in Nashville during the CMA festival as part of the AristoMedia Global Artist Showcase

Prevost consistently captivates his audiences, treating them to his upbeat and feel-good singles like “Next Weekend”, “Not Just The Beer Talkin’, “Spin”, and “Good Livin’” to sincere ballads including “Call Me When You Get There”, and the infamous tear jerker “I’m Okay.” Gracing the stage with boundless energy and passion, and conveyed with a genuine and non-assuming presence, Codie Prevost has been a much sought-after act ever since he kick started his music career in 2005.
