Christopher Cross "Doctor Faith" new album
November 02, 2010
Christopher Cross has just sent a newsletter to his fans a few hours ago with new details about his forthcoming album : Christopher Cross "Doctor Faith":
"The new album Doctor Faith is complete, as well as some bonus tracks, but due to delays with the artwork, the release date is now January 25th in Europe. We do not have a release date for the US or other territories as of now but I will certainly let you know when we do.
I am enormously proud of the songs Rob Meurer and I have written. This my second project as a producer and I'm very pleased with it. The reaction by those who have heard it has been extremely positive. It's a bit of a departure from my past albums sonically - it's a totally guitar-based record. The 13 songs are very eclectic, stylistically and lyrically.
After a rewarding time touring the Carlyle ensemble, I have put together a new touring band featuring drums, bass, percussion, guitar, keys, 2nd keys and sax, and a lighting director. I forgot how much I have missed playing electric guitar! The new band is incredibly high energy and exciting and allows us to be improvisational onstage. We have not started playing any songs from the new album and probably will not do so until the album is released.
Rob and I have also written a song with Tina Fey called "Lemon's Theme," based on an episode of 30 Rock. It will be the bonus track on the album, The Music of 30 Rock, which will come out November 16th.
I have also recorded a version of John Lennon's "Imagine" as a tribute to the 30th anniversary of his death on December 8th. We anticipate that it will be on iTunes very soon.
We are starting to put together our tour dates for 2011 and hope to see you at a show."
So Christopher Cross "Doctor Faith" will be released by Edel Records (in Germany and all over Western Europe) in January 2011 in 2 editions: A classic CD album and with an additional 12 inch/ed collector. Stay tuned for more details!
Thanks for the plug! We are quite proud of Doctor Faith and look forward to its European release.
Greetings from Los Angeles!
