LIFE by NIGHT

Life

One of the long lost records of the ‘80’s, L.A. based Life By Night’s self-titled debut album is finally getting some way overdue recognition! Formed by lead vocalist and bassist Tom Croucier, the brother of Ratt bassist Juan Croucier, Life By Night had the songs and the look, but sadly not the traction, thanks to the usual story of music business politics to take things any further than they did. Having played in a variety of different groups through years, Tom has been a part of Roger Romeo’s group “Romeo” as well as A&M record’s Bobby Dazzler and Santana.

In 1981 Tom Played on the excellent “Down to the Bone” album in 1981 by Vic Vergat. The band played all over Europe before they went to the States to open for Nazareth. Tom also played bass on the Scorpions “Blackout” album. After returning to the States following the break-up of the Vic Vergat Group, Tom began writing songs and would eventually put together a new band project with drummer Bryan Hitt (REO Speedwagon), and it was then that a band called “Life by Night” was formed.

In the mid-eighties Life by Night recorded their debut album with Richie Zito behind the production desk. The songs were melodic AOR with poppy overtones and it was all set to be released when the label at the time just dropped them. It happened so quickly, and as a result this fine album from 1985 never saw the light of day. Here it is though, fully remastered on CD for the very first time. “I was blown away when I heard it,” says Tom. “I love the way it sounds. I’m really happy with it. The way ‘Angel’ sounds especially is just great. I always felt that should’ve been the first single when it was originally released back in 1985. It just had so much crossover potential.”

STYX "Crash of the Crown"

Styx

A new era of hope, survival, and prosperity comes calling on STYX's Magnum Opus, Crash of the Crown, the band's first studio album since 2017's The Mission. Though the 15-track album takes a hard look at some inherently dark subjects, the prevalent light at the end of the tunnel eventually becomes each song's focal point - a persistent fervor to keep moving forward and achieve the greater good. Featuring "Crash of the Crown," "Reveries" & more, available on CD.

Robin McAuley "Standing On The Edge"

Robin

Robin McAuley's new solo album, “Standing on the Edge" showcases the desire of the respected Irish rock singer to make a strong musical statement in a period that was more creative than ever for him! After reemerging on the recording side of the music industry with guest spots on Michael Schenker Fest albums and fronting the hard rock supergroup Black Swan, McAuley is feeling invigorated and ready to explore even more creative output, letting the world see that his voice is as powerful as ever.

McAuley is widely recognized as one of the great singers of a golden period in hard rock music. His voice can be heard on albums from Grand Prix and Far Corporation, and of course on the chart topping MSG records “Perfect Timing,” “Save Yourself,” and “MSG”. Through these releases, he was introduced to hard rock fans around the globe, who no doubt recognized the inherent talent and skill in his vocal abilities. Since departing MSG, he released one solo record in 1999, then joined AOR legends Survivor, and then re-grouped with Schenker in Michael Schenker Fest on their recent records "Resurrection" and "Revelation". And of course, in what was an absolute revelation to hard rock fans around the world, in 2020, he came out swingin' as the frontman of the supergroup BLACK SWAN, where he joined forces with Reb Beach (Whitesnake, Winger), Jeff Pilson (Foreigner, ex-Dokken), and Matt Starr (Ace Frehley, Mr Big).

McAuley spent the latter half of 2020 working on a new solo record, one which truly encompasses all music styles he is known for. Hard Rock and Melodic Rock superbly performed as only he can do it. Envisioned, overseen, and creatively directed by Serafino Perugino, President and A&R director of Frontiers Records with production (and co-writing) by Alessandro Del Vecchio, McAuley offers up a true gem of an album in “Standing on the Edge". Included are a splendid songwriting collaborations with his former Grand Prix bandmate Phil Lanzon (currently longtime Uriah Heep keyboardist) on “Like a Ghost”, Howard Leese (of Bad Company, ex-Heart) on “Supposed To Do Now," and Tommy Denander on “Do You Remember” and "Chosen Few”. Robin McAuley’s “Standing on the Edge" is an album that will surely thrill and delight melodic hard rock fans in 2021. Stay tuned....

Ricky Peterson and The Peterson Brothers "Under The Radar"

81oKbzXddjL._SY355_

The Peterson Brothers - keyboard player Ricky, bass player Billy, drummer / guitar player Paul and their nephew, saxophonist Jason - are true brothers in arms, Minneapolis institutions, members and survivors of that city's musical revolution. Natural talent by the yard and years of playing with the some of the best of the best - from Prince to Bonnie Raitt, Eddie Harris to Mose Allison, Dave Sanborn to Boz Scaggs, Fleetwood Mac to Bob Dylan, and that barely scratches the surface - make this tribute to a legendary musical family a back-slapping, finger-popping good time. The fact that it took a couple of decades to get these world travellers together into the same room for a couple of days only proves that when the time is right the real deal is on the table.

PARIS "50/50"

Paris

I love these guys. The French duo of Frédéric Dechavanne (songwriting, vocals, keyboards) and Sébastien Montet (songwriting, guitars, keyboards, background vocals) have now created 3 great European melodic rock albums. Their last was so good I put it out on my old MRR label.

Now with AOR Heaven, I’m pleased to say that the guys have further upped their game. Once again featuring the same team as the last album – Steve Newman (production, mastering, backing vocals), Dave Bartlett (bass, backing vocals) and Rob McEwen (drums), 50/50 is an album filled with catchy and memorable AOR songs, mixing keyboards and guitars equally in a way only the Europeans seem to be able to do.

LEVARA

Levara

LEVARA's self-titled debut album will be released on Mascot Records on May 14, 2021.

LEVARA's union merged in Los Angeles. Singer Jules Galli emigrated from France, while drummer Josh Devine chose L.A. as home versus his native United Kingdom following success behind the kit with One Direction. There they found common vision with Trev Lukather (guitar), son of Toto’s Steve Lukather. Every tune on the band’s debut emanates from inspiration culled from their lives, and their mission is to rally the globe to connect and groove with the band. These songs display a larger than life sound. A realized vision. Anthemic tunes written and recorded visualizing a mass audience becoming one with the body of work. Integrating their personal voices to the live experience. Or simply as a personal soundscape cruising the asphalt with the car stereo cranking.
